미국의 싱어송라이터 Halsey (할시)는  2014년 'Ghost' 발매를 시작으로 RIAA 골드 인증을 받으면서 미국 인디신의 신예로 주목을 받았으며, 이어진 싱글 'New Americana', 'Colors' 등을 히트시켜 첫 정규작 [Badlands]의 기대감을 높였다. 앨범 발매 이후 플래티넘을 달성하는 등 미국 앨범 차트 2위에 오르면서 기대를 뛰어넘어 눈에 띌만한 성적을 거뒀다.

 

2016년 7월, Chainsmokers의 'Closer'에 피처링으로 참여, 곡의 전 세계적 인기에 따라 인지도가 급상승했다. 이 곡은 7xPlatinum을 달성, 미국과 캐나다, 유럽의 여러 나라 등에서 차트 1위에 올랐으며, "2017 빌보드 뮤직 어워드" Top Collaboration 상을 수상하는 등 가장 기대되는 여성 싱어로 떠올랐다.

이후 발매된 2집 [Hopeless Fountain Kingdom] 싱글인 'Now or Never', 'Bad at Love' 등이 인기를 누리면서 2집까지 사랑을 받았다. RIAA 플래티넘을 달성했으며, 빌보드의 정상을 차지하는 등, 대중적 히트를 차지했고, 시크하고 카리스마 있는 음악 스타일로 음악적 평론도 좋게 받고 있다.
